Right now, while still in the development stage, autonomous vehicles come at a high ticket price given the cost of supplying the advanced technology many of them require. For example, one of the Google Waymo cars has an expected cost of around $150,000, mostly due to the fact that its radar system alone costs around $75,000. However, with the mainstreaming of self-driving cars, it is likely that researchers will find ways to cut costs and make more affordable models that are just as safe and efficient.
